Trailer Planning
After researching into romance films in detail I am now at the stage where I can plan my trailer and ancillary products. My trailer is going to be a romance-drama based on the idea that the couple meet and fall in love but the male is a Royal Marine and therefore is away months at a time. The story evolves around what happens to their relationship whilst she is waiting for him and while he is away on base.

The first few scenes I wanted to show their relationship blossoming as they spend time together. After a few various scenes I am going to use the dropping of the army camo bag onto the floor to represent his profession as a marine and this is when the trailer will spin into a more dramatic twist of a diversity of shots with the couple together and the couple away from each other. There will be scenes which suggest they stay together and scenes which suggest they are finding the separation too difficult. I want the second half of this trailer to depict the emotional difficulties the couple have and have various shots to leave the audience in speculation as to what happens to the couple.

Camera Work
I want to use a range of shots throughout my trailer as after analysing other romance trailers this is what makes them more interesting. The shots used most frequently in romance trailers are close up shots as these allow the audience to see the emotional state of the character through facial expressions. Other shots I want to use are mid and long shots as this gives good indications of the characters emotions and feelings through their body language which I think is important.
I've decided to introduce the trailer using a range of shots during the first scene where they meet such as wide shots, close ups, long shots and an extreme high angled shot. This first scene where they meet for the first time is very important to be able to capture that attraction they feel when they first see each other as this is what sparks the relationship. The first shot I think I'm going to use is a wide shot which allows the camera to see the characters walking towards each other about to pass each other and as the female moves to by pass the male she slips and the match on action shows the male catching her as she falls- pulling her up. The next shot is a two shot which represents the immediate attraction between them. This is followed by two close ups where the female gives her name and the male replies with his. These close ups allow the audience to see their facial expressions as they gaze at each other which is conventional as it signifies the strong attraction between them.

The high angled shot I particularly want to include as they walk away together because in a real film this would have taken place by using a crane to swing the camera over them. I am going to use a climbing frame which overlooks the road to take this shot of them. This looks effective as it brings a diversity and vastness to my shots throughout the trailer.

The shots in the restaurant will be close ups shots which express the enjoyment the couple are having spending time together. These close ups consist of the couple laughing and smiling as they order their meals in the restaurant. This is conventional as it is symbolic to the romance that is growing between them and the audience can see this build up which makes them invest in the couples relationship. I am going to use various other close up shots throughout the trailer. In particular, I am going to use more close up shots near the end of the trailer as this half will run through a vast number of different settings which both characters are in which leaves the audience in speculation over their romance.

The shot of the couple kissing is going to be a mid shot so that the camera captures their body language as well as them kissing which represents the romance between them. This shot the female will have her legs wrapped around the males waist after she jumps into him. This body language suggests their relationship and is significant to the physical attraction between them.

Mise En Scene

The Mise en Scene used throughout the trailer is going to be mostly significant to the gender roles as I want to use stereotypical appearances of the genders for both my main characters. An example of this is the scene where the male character is seen arriving home from being away. The female runs towards him exiting from the house wearing a red crop top and small denim shorts. This s parallel to the male character who is in full length trousers and a coat. The two parallels are significant to the stereotypical appearance of the lead female and male roles in films. The female is bearing a lot of skin and her clothing is also fitting to her body shape. This contrasts to the male's clothing who is completely covered in clothing. This is stereotypical of the genders and this is why I wanted to work with the typical conventions of a romantic movie. This is similar to the scene in the romantic movie trailer 'Dear John' where the male and female are walking along the beach at night and the male is fully covered with clothing whereas the female is only in shorts and shirt. This is conventional for genre and works with the conventions of the genders.

The settings I am going to use will vary from interior domestic settings to exterior settings such as the couple meeting one another out on the street. This brings interest and a diversity of scenes to the trailer which makes it appear far more realistic. I want my trailer to evoke a similar outline to that of 'Dear John' as I feel this trailer really highlights the different stages of their relationship which is conventional to genre.

Production Outline
This word document describes my ideas over my trailer and what I am going to put in it. It discusses the shot types and scenes I am going to use. It also addresses the conventions of each scene and refers to the mise en scene such as the lighting.

Production concept Survey
Please fill in the survey below which consists of six quick questions asking you to give your opinions on my production ideas for my romantic film trailer.

Conventions Power point
This power point consists of the different features of my trailer in which I have used the conventions of a romantic move trailer. This includes the use of camera work and the conventions I have covered in that such as close up shots to highlight the emotions and facial expressions. it also covers the editing such as an eye line match to symbolize the attraction between the couple. I have spoken about lighting and how the conventional low key lighting represents romance. I have also written about mise en scene such as clothing and how i have used conventions with this particular feature.

Shot List
This shot list covers every shot I am going to take throughout the trailer. The document consists of the shot number, scene number, the shot type and a brief description of what takes place during the shots. This document will be used whilst filming as it will be easy to work from particularly when I create the traileron the software.

Shot and Sound List
This word document is identical to the shot list above but I have added other features into it such as when I m going to use voice overs during the trailer and in which exact shot. It also covers when I am going to use dialogue and when I am going to put in captions over certain shots. This completely breaks down the trailer for me when I am creating it.

Production Plan
This is my production plan for my trailer. It covers the date I have completed a task of the filming and it gives the location of where I have filmed this scene. As well as this, I have written what Mise en scene was needed for each actor and if there was any additional Mise en scene needed such as props in each scene. I have written who was present in each scene and a short description of what took place whilst shooting the scenes.

Risk Assessment
This is my risk assessment for each location I am using during filming. I have analysed any possible risks within each location and have rated the level of the risk and have taken measurements to contain the risks.

Casting
This document is a written up description of what I want both of my lead characters to be. I have described what conventions I want to use within their persona's and I show that I have developed my understanding of stereotypical characters in romance films. I want to use stereotypical features with both characters to produce a conventional outcome while creating individual characters for both roles. I have written about why I have chosen the two volunteers I have chosen and why they are going to be conventional for these parts and why they are going to be good to work with. I have also added images of each volunteer to enable you to see how they compliment each other with features such as hair colour.

Ancillary Planning
Below is a word document where I have analysed the entertainment Weekly magazine which debuted the film 'The fault in our stars'. i have analysed the cover page of this magazine and have also written why I believe that particular features of the cover page are effective and why I will ultimately use them n my own ancillary product.

 Ancillary Magazine Images
To the left are images before and after editing that I used for the main image of my magazine cover. This first image is the original image that after taking a few images at different images I decided this was the optimum angle and positioning for the models to be in n the cover. The positioning of them really highlights the bond between them which is conventional for genre.
The house style here I have tried to keep very light such as the light pink top and white t-shirt. This connotes charm and the pink represents the love which makes it conventional for genre. The white also brings a sense of tranquility to the image as white connotes peace and purity. The models hair contrasts against the light sky in the optical area of the image which then switches to contrasting against a darker background which continues through to the terminal area.

This is the final edit that I made to this image. I used 'picmonkey' to alter the brightness and highlights of the image and then I also edited the sharpness of the couple and slightly blurred the background which gave the image a stronger depth of field. The background is quite obtrusive so I wanted to blur the background out as much as possible. The image then became sharper and the clarity of the models looks enhanced.

Their facial expressions deliver a serious tone to the cover page but this also reflects the story line of the film. The female's slight smile connotes happiness but the seriousness also relates to the target audience of this film and how this is trying to appeal to an older audience. Therefore the cover page doesn't need to be overly colourful and cluttered which is what a younger target audience would be attracted by.
The subtle colouring creates a sophisticated and gentle look which relates to the genre as this is promoting an emotional romance film.
